On today's episode we are joined with Selina Bolton, Founder and Investor in Seed Partners who shares her very astute views on leadership.
Selina starts things off by sharing her views on leadership, with an effective leader being someone who enrols and inspires change and drives innovation, moving onto an important trait being the ability to understand the challenges around you. This is all about engaging with and empowering everyone, listening to all members in your team using effective communication to work together.
We move onto to an area we both really liked Selina's views on and this was how someone can demonstrate leadership qualities at any stage of their career, it's all about taking initiative, coming up with a proposal for change on your own terms, not having to wait for a budget, using this to get buy in and sell the vision to take a 'leap' - which all ties in to going above and beyond in your role.
We go into more detail on this and how this can be done within an organisation; being active in your role, identifying the change makers, creating a feedback loop and empowering others.
It's all about how you can contribute to the future of your company or your own business.
To summarise, in Selina's own words, being a leader is akin to be the 'Architect of Change'
A big thank you to Selina!

Episode 30 | Review: Rebecca Galley, Hydroscand

Friday Dec 04, 2020
Listen to our views, takeaways and thoughts on the podcast interview with Rebecca Galley.
Below is the original description.
Today we are joined with Rebecca Galley, the Managing Director at Hydroscand UK. Rebecca has held numerous leadership roles from Commercial Manager to Operations Director to now MD.
To kick-off, Rebecca shares her views on the differences between management and leadership, in that managers tend to be task-oriented whilst leaders focus more on traits, getting results through their team and providing support. This leads on to be one of Rebecca's tips for being an effective leader; being part of the team and getting the best from everyone, as well as being a good communicator. Rebecca talks about critical thinking and considering all the options when having to make difficult decisions.
Rebecca shares her views on leadership by saying that leaders should get to know everyone in their team, who are they, what they're interested in and what issues they might have? Also the importance of having conversations where you get to really know your team.
Responsibility and the ability to make tough decisions was another of Rebecca's points and that sometimes a leader will have to make a decision that won't be favourable with everyone. This requires emotional intelligence which helps you to become a more empathetic leader when you might have to do the uncomfortable thing.
And lastly, something that has come up a few times, LEADERS DON'T HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME!
Our podcast with Rebecca is full of practical advice and thoughts on leadership. It is a brilliant listen for anyone who is a leader or wants to improve their approach to leadership. A big thank you to Rebecca.

What an inspiration! Today we interview Sara Flay the CEO of Legacy International Group, who at 23 years of age, was told she would never work again. Refusing to take this as the answer Sara has gone on to set up multiple businesses and now runs Legacy International.
We hear stories from Sara of how she overcome this set back at such a young age and became who she is today, her views on leadership and the correlation between age and being a leader (or lack thereof!)
Sara discusses with us her high degree of transparency with her team when she is having a bad day and needs to take some time out - for example, how open and comfortable would you be sharing this with your team?
Big thank you to Sara for sharing your stories and your insights into leadership!

Callum and Rebecca share their views on the podcast episode with Taz Thornton.
Here is the original podcast description
A very exciting and energetic discussion with Taz - an award winning coach trainer and motivational speaker, likened to Tony Robbins but with pink hair!
Taz shares with us her very personal story of working in a corporate job at a young age and unfortunately being very unhappy, feeling down and struggling with depression, wondering is this what it's all about? It was around this time when Taz found solace in helping others who were feeling the same and helping them get through tough times and ultimately helped her out of her own situation. Taz goes into more details around this and if you're in need of an uplifting story - have a listen...
We talk about Taz's views on leadership and Taz strongly believes that the role of leading teams needs to change. From encouraging leaders to allow employees to use social media for positive purposes such as talking positively about their employers and also empowering teams to have an opinion, all of this is underpinned by truly getting to know your employees and understand their primary motivating factors. A very useful and insightful listen for anyone working with others in their team!
Big thank you to Taz for sharing your story and your views on leadership - enjoy everyone!

Welcome to another episode of our Lead to Succeed podcast, today we are joined with Tony Sciarrotta, Executive Director of the Reverse Logistics Association. Tony shares some really useful insights into his views and approach to leadership.
We move on to discuss, when working at Phillips, how Tony was tasked with handling and figuring out how to significantly reduce the returns rate and problems they were having with their products. This was very much an emerging sector at the time, and there were very little or no best practices or industry-wide policies to handling reverse logistics.
Tony shares with us how he took a comprehensive approach to this problem by looking at the entire process of how Philips's products were packaged, marketed, their instructions manuals and other areas, not just 'how do we reduce returns?' - a very interesting and technical discussion with Tony. If getting down to the details of solving significant problems is your area - this is the podcast for you!
Thank you very much to Tony for being on our podcast and thank you to you for listening, enjoy!
