One of his first businesses, a scuba diving school in the desert (yes the desert!) built to over $1 million in sales in 12 months with 21 staff where he learnt after a close shave with a mutiny from his team that the art of leadership is letting go, listening and letting others lead.

This week we had the pleasure of talking with James Segal, Founder of SynergyMode, a recently created business advocating and facilitating a better world of board-level advice to help businesses succeed.
One of James' core points is that leadership is about your ACTIONS NOT about your TITLE. We go on to discuss the importance of self-confidence and self-belief for two main reasons: 1 - to be able to address a large audience (back in the days when we could do public speaking!) and also, perhaps more importantly 2- to get yourself in the right mindset, being able to challenge the status quo and belief in yourself that you can in fact be a leader.
We go on to discuss the importance of really getting to know your employees and understanding what their primary motivating factors are. I (Callum) could relate to this as earlier this year I employed my first intern and we got to know each other well, however with the position being remote, I was a little unsure as to how many personal questions I should ask. So for me, this was a really useful perspective to hear from another great leader.
Again a big thank you to James for recording the podcast with us and a big thank you to you for listening!
